Plating

The electroplating line at Strath Craft's production facility in London, Ontario Plating

Electroplating uses an electrical current to add a layer of metal to each casting, giving it its final colour and finish.

What is electroplating?

Electroplating uses an electrical current to deposit layers of metal onto the surface of a casting. It changes the colour of the piece without changing its shape, so a cast piece can leave our plating line looking like gold, silver or bronze.

How does plating work at Strath Craft?

Our in-house electroplating line finishes every metal item we produce. Once castings have been knifed, filed and buffed, they're plated in the finish you choose:

  • Antique gold
  • Antique silver
  • Antique bronze
  • Black nickel
  • Bright gold
  • Bright nickel
  • Bright bronze

Which finish should I choose?

Bright finishes give a polished, reflective look, while antique finishes give a classic, traditional feel. Helping you select the right combination of materials for your project is our specialty, and plated pieces can also be hand painted in the final stage of production.
