Established 1918 · London, Ontario

Strath Craft Awards was founded in 1918 to produce memorial plaques honouring Canadian soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War.

More than 100 years later, most of our metal products are still made by hand at our production facility in London, Ontario. Choose any process below to see how a design becomes a finished medal, pin, crest or plaque.

Mould Making

Rubber moulds made from a model of your design, the first step for every cast piece.

Sand Casting

Hand-lettered patterns cast in sand to create custom raised text for plaques.

Centrifugal Casting

Spinning force fills every detail of the mould for medals, pins and crests.

Knifing and Buffing

Excess metal is trimmed, filed and buffed away by hand.

Plating

Electroplated in-house in bright and antique gold, silver, bronze and nickel finishes.

Painting

Enamel colour set into each design by hand, matched to Pantone shades.
